And, yes, I think my intention is to do something less destructive to ease out of my behaviors but still get external validation until I learn to find that internally.

What actions do you think I should take to get that interest? Dressing sexier--I usually have fitted professional dresses on for work and tight yoga pants and workout tops on the weekend but could certainly switch to summer dresses on weekends if that is hotter than yoga pants. Eye contact sometimes gets a wave or something at the gym or other friendly place, but hasn't gotten anyone to approach me yet in a sexual way. I'm asking seddit because I'm hoping you guys know what makes a guy approach …

As I said, I'm an addict. I'm working on it. It isn't enough if I'm not feeling sexually wanted 100% of the time.

I want them to make a move on me. I can stop it before going further to sex/kissing/fondling, which is where I'd say the line is for cheating. The issue is that I don't get that attention from men. I don't know if it's being in my 30s and not the vulnerable little flower anymore, the ring, some combination, but attention just doesn't happen to any degree from anyone, whether the crossing the line kind or even just dudes staring at me. I need advice for how to get them to do that. I am interested…

It's a mix between my addiction (need to get novel attention), lack of time (we have young kids so its hard to fit it in), and my husband's level of expressiveness being low (which he is also working on).

Agree. Thinking back, I’ve friend-zoned every single guy that ever took me to movies on a first date. Studies show novel situations, adrenaline, and a little stress that you then release by the end of the interaction releases oxytocin, the bonding hormone, in women. Excite her; don’t make her feel like a cliche. The few chubby guys I’ve dated reeled me in with these first dates, respectively: going to a DDR competition to cheer him on and watching him win; going offroading and then on a hike wit…

It might be different ways of communicating due to the age gap. You think you have plans but “hang out this weekend” or something like that doesn’t sound like a plan to me (someone in their 30s), it sounds like an invitation for more specifics. A plan to me is, “Okay, I’ll meet you at 3:30pm Saturday at x location. Confirmed?” and him replying “Yes. I’ll meet you there.” Anything less than that, I’m not adding it to my calendar, and if it isn’t in my calendar it doesn’t exist.

The obvious answer here is obvious because it’s right: it’s better for the emotional connection in the relationship and health/cleanliness not to cheat without enthusiastic agreement from both partners (i.e., you can’t pressure someone to agree to it or surprise them that you cheated without agreement). If you can’t be honest about wanting to be faithful, don’t get married, just keep dating, or have the respect of your partner to agree in advance. I haven’t been with anyone else during my marria…

“No? Oh, well, I love the look anyway. I’m _____. I do [some work or hobby or interest that is creative—something that connects you as in group]. I’m always trying to meet other interesting people and you seemed like you qualify. Where are you headed/what are you up to here/continue conversation.”

Practice, goal setting, and progress checks. Salvador Dali was once incredibly introverted and shy, but he made a conscious effort to be out there and look where he ended up by the end of his life: known worldwide for his extroversion and eccentricities.

Some other tips: - You should try to figure out her type before you approach and show her that you have those character traits she might want. Is she sitting with her nose in a book? Be a little nerdy. Is she dancing all night? Then be dance floor guy. - You might be going for the pickup line before you establish rapport. A decent quality girl who has to do a lot to screening is going to say this if someone makes a verbal sexual move before she’s either interested in your personality or turned o…

You should add more hobbies. One of the other guys doing these sets does art and had a set where he asked a girl if he could draw her sitting under a tree.

You can also email him, say you didn’t catch his personal contact info but would love to catch up, then ask if he has a personal email you can use for logistics. In my experience many professional guys that age don’t actively use social media.

Maybe you should develop some more interests so you have more to share. Guitar or other music, poetry, philosophy, art, psychology—anything you can talk about and share with people you meet so you are more interesting, rather than just trying to act more interesting.

Be a good dancer, make some eye contact, and girls will come to you on the dance floor. Bonus: studies show men who use more arm movements when dancing are viewed as more attractive. Women who use more hip movements are viewed as more attractive. If you ask people to dance, learn some partner dance moves like spins or dips. Girls love a good dip (and hate one that feels sloppy or digs into their back).

Woman here. I agree with not spending money to take girls out on dates in college unless you are already in a relationship. Go to the park/quad, go places like the food court where you buy your own food, etc. There is no reason to be taking anyone to fancy dinners before you are exclusive. Maybe a concert ticket or something like that where it’s an experience and it messes up logistics to buy separately. I met my husband when we were in college and our first “dates” if you can call them date pri…

Agreed. It’s one thing to practice approaching girls that are more attractive than you knowing it might not work and being okay with it. It’s another issue to refuse to work on your inner self and outer appearance at all and then get upset when stunning women turn you down. A guy practiced a cold approach on me (attractive F) this weekend and although he was very nice, he seemed like he wasn’t trying on fronts other than approach anxiety. Specifically, he was dressed in ill-fitting clothes, hair…

Sounds like what happens when sex is bad (confirmed by your other comment). Lesson for next time: if you are unable to have good sex, don’t have sex. Unless you are willing and able to restart the seduction game from zero with her (starting seduction from a place of assuming no attraction), this is a friend zone.

Woman here. I agree with never apologize, but please don’t do this. It creeps most women out. I actually called security on a shoe shiner who pulled this in my work lobby because he was being really creepy about it: told me I dropped a pen and when I bent down to look for it, said, “Mmm. Actually, I was just hoping you’d drop something.” Instead, maybe just play it off like nothing (chances are she probably didn’t notice or care anyway) and start with a standard game opening and introduction ins…

I’m struggling with this myself because when I married my husband, he was 210 pounds of muscle with 10% body fat and biceps the size of my head. Now he’s more like 24% body fat. Still attractive to me because of his other excellent qualities, but I wish I could convince him to lose more fat mass weight. However, the video makes a good point that fitness is really something each partner has to come to themselves given their own priorities. I have come to realize that approach will be the most suc…

Music can be good. Games of skill like poker. My husband played guitar and poker when we met and I thought it was sexy as heck. Other options are arts, poetry, philosophy, or storytelling. Especially young women love learning about these from a guy.

Go back and be honest. Tell her that you think it might have been a missed opportunity for something awesome and you’d like to meet up.

Don’t interrupt while they are working on a set or have their headphones in, but as others said a gym is a social place where it’s normal to wave and say hi to people you recognize. Then after waiving once, ask their name if they are at the water fountain or packing up at the same time, use 30 seconds to hook with a light story or joke, then next time you run into her ask another 30 second question or comment. As others noted, obviously working out is a mutual interest so you can discuss that. B…

Female here. I recommend you set it up right away, perhaps for a week apart from the last one if you are trying to build long term attraction, shorter if you want to keep the sexual momentum up for something shorter term.

This is very true. You might rightfully be jealous of a 20 year old hot woman going to nightlife who gets asked out all the time, but that’s a small portion of women. By that logic, you might as well also be jealous of the ripped 35 year old 6’3 finance partner who is also getting anyone they want. Women have to work hard after about age 28 to get guys their age interested. I’m 32 and fairly hot (blonde, size 2 tight body, former model, making a boatload of money at my job, dress well), but I ha…

Woman here who was in an open relationship (bilateral openness) at one point. It worked best when we both knew the status of the other relationships (who with (just an identifier if we didn’t already know the other person) and how emotionally and physically involved) but not details beyond that. Each girl should know the same about all the other girls, not just the main one knowing this. It’s also perfectly natural for people to want exclusivity as they get emotionally closer to each other. My c…

Sounds like she was nervous because she liked you and wasn’t used to guys hitting on her, so she assumed you actually wanted help with the book selection and felt unqualified for that. When she suggested asking someone else, you might have said something like, “I could ask someone else, but they wouldn’t be as cute.” Then she knows you are asking her because you are interested, and she feels less anxious about not knowing as much as a sales person.

I agree it’s better to focus on in person interaction. My SO and I rarely text beyond logistics, too. At the the start of a relationship texting can be especially annoying, in my opinion. Makes you look needy.

If your strong point now is your appearance, you are going to have better luck in person than via messaging. Start by asking out the girls in your natural environment like at school.

Suits, great shoes, articulate speech, good job, mature interactions, confident but non-aggressive personality (suggests he has something meaningful backing up his confidence beyond physical or verbal displays of aggression).

This might seem out of the blue, but consider whether you are on the autism spectrum--this sounds just like someone I know who is on the high-functioning side of the spectrum. There are a ton of great books out there that help with social skills for people with high-functioning autism.

So true. Looking like you have a lot of torque to push something, regardless of fat percentage, is kind of the look that does it for me (woman). That can be tall with broad, decent shoulders and a little chub, or it can be shorter but with giant shoulder muscles and smaller hips. Skinny with small muscles doesn't do it.

That said, I ultimately married my husband and not them. My husband's biceps are nearly the size of my head and he could lift me with one arm. So, take it with a little grain of salt. But, I was very attracted to the artist guy--I don't even remember why we stopped dating, but it wasn't because I didn't find him attractive anymore. He had great cardiovascular fitness even though he was overweight, though. I found that very sexy--when he'd be covered in sweat after doing something intense but nev…

I'm a hot catch if I do say so myself (I know I start all my posts this way, but it's true, haha--former model, fit, high IQ) and have dated two chubby guys in my day and had the hots for another one that I didn't date because I was with someone else at the time. You have to have something sexy, but it definitely doesn't have to be a low body fat percentage. It can be confidence, a great skill (the first guy I'm thinking of was a really gifted artist and amazing with his hands in other locations…
