Quick back story so this isn't a WOT. Married 18 years, separated 03/2015 (moved into guest house) and filed papers 7/2016 and finalized in Jan 3rd. Moving into my new place on Friday.

So.......today I got my reddit secret Santa gift! I was so excited that I wasn't sure if I should open it now or put it under the tree of my new place I move into Friday. But it brought back the strangest memory. Back up 2 years....my first secret Santa with reddit and I get my gift. I come inside fully stoked to see what it is and ask my STBXW to come over and see it with me. I had explained before what reddit was and the secret santa exchange. I opened it up and found homemade cookies (a total favorite of mine), a distillers cookbook for moonshine, and possibly the kindest note inside that made it obvious someone had researched me.

My wife looked at it and said....people are really weird and you shouldn't eat those cookies, they probably have been poisoned. She then threw the cookies away. I pulled them out of the trash (they were in a bag) and kept them. They were AWESOME.

It wasn't that I did something that she didn't quite understand....it was that if I disagreed with her I was wrong, weird, or disobedient to God and she was going to do what she thought was right (we were pretty religious....and she still is. I am to a point...but nowhere like I was).

Got my gift today....not a weird look in the house and I'm totally stoked. I hope there are cookies.

Sorry it was longer than I meant. This is a HARD road...even when it's the RIGHT road and in many ways I wouldn't wish it on anyone but....Hot damn I got my gift today
