Idk why they dont. If I got something for someone of interest for valentines day & they didnt get me anything, that would be the end of that. I would no longer want something serious with them

There was a post on a "neutral" sub about this and it just blamed men for waiting till the last minute and assumed all women just did their shopping earlier because they care more. Some of them always have mental gymnastics up their sleeves

When a woman gets candy and a card and all that jazz, it's an act of true love. If a guy gets it, he would probably get seen as a weirdo who needs constant validation and has some weird unaddressed complexes that make him want to be "mothered." Seriously that's something I've noticed... Men wanting affection from their wives or gfs is seen as some sort of mommy issues thing or treated as creepy/weird
