High maintenance is just who I am. There are things I don't do and men have to accept without questioning.
"Oh, she eats vegan. Yeah, that's okay."
"Oh, she doesn't like sweets. Yeah, that's okay."
"Oh, she doesn't drink coffee. Yeah, that's okay."
"Oh, she doesn't drink alcohol. Yeah, that's okay."
"Oh, she dresses up on a weekday because that's her style. Yeah, that's okay."
Men need to be fine with me. I don't want anyone in my life to continuously questions my life choices because it's not what he's used to and he wants what he's used to so he tries to change me. In the past I would have compromised myself to make it 'easier' for a man to be around me. But that's nothing someone should ever do.
Make it your strategy not only to set boundaries, but to never compromise who you are as a person because you think you are too much for someone.
