It's an awesome tool in order to cut through his lies and bs. Once you know about it, it will be hard to unsee. Liars and narcissists subconsciously use projection of their own shortcomings in order to 'eliminate' them from themselves onto other people.
I have been reminded of this by reading a post in a general relationship forum today but I have countless examples I have experienced on my own.
- Does your boyfriend accuse you of cheating on him with your friends and you have given him no reason to do so?
- Is he secretive and accuses you of it?
- Does he call you out on traits you have never had on your own, but he actually has? My narcissistic ex has always called me out on being cunning and this is the last thing I am, really.
- Another recent Tinder date told me out of the blue "be honest with me from the start, it will give you the best results". Guess what, down the line I found out he was the biggest liar I have ever met on this platform and that probably means something.
If you are accused of traits that are not something you recognize in yourself, beware that it might be his.
