ill never forget the day i realize what long term cohabitation does to women. ill try to make this quick:

met a couple of my (ex)partners friends for a sushi dinner. my first time meeting most of them, all couples. my boyfriend at the time gets seated next to his best friends sister whom he’s known for years.

everyone is chatting busily and my partner excuses himself to the restroom. the server comes and the woman next to him asks me if i know what he’s going to order so i can order for him. i say no. ??? he comes back. she says as soon as he’s sat down, “the waiter came but we didn’t know what you wanted so you have to order still” waiter comes back, he orders. crisis averted. twenty minutes or so later, plates are sat before us and he’s busily eating. she’s somehow noticed he’s dropping food and pulls his plate closer to his chest.

now i know what you’re thinking but it didn’t come off as flirtatious. also her husband (a handsome man) is sitting to her right and she’s paying equal amounts of attention to him, if not more. no, the whole thing came off matronly.

also mind you, during the group conversation it somehow comes up that everyday after his work (she’s housebound) she meets him in the garage to de-robe him (covid protocol) and meets him with fresh clothes etc.

doting wife?? i think not. preconditioned to treat the men around her like children due to the longevity of her commitment to this man and their family household? check.

even explaining it to you all now it doesn’t seem as blatant as it did that night. but im telling you, id never seen it so clearly before then.

the men we cater to, become children we care for. yuck 🤮
