He's Not Into You

Young women, please give me your ear, I've got something that I feel you need to hear. Because not so long ago, I needed to hear it too, that older man? He's not into you.

He doesnt like you, he likes what you represent. He likes your naivety and innocence. He likes how you'll hang off his every word, he likes how you wont try to make your opinion heard.

Because he tells you you're better than any other girl he could be dating, but dont you see that's isolating? He's telling you that you're more mature, that you're beyond your years, he'll talk to you for hours, and I know how good it feels. To be seen and appreciated for who you are, but I promise, he's not into you.

Have you thought for a moment or two? Why he isnt with girls closer in age, I know if you ask he'll make it a goal to assuage, to make sure that you stay engaged in his presence, craving his opinion, but he doesnt want a partner, he wants someone under his dominion, under his thumb, but let me stress that falling for it doesnt make you dumb. He knows how to prey on girls, on young women, he knows how to word what he wants to say, to make you feel special, important, one of a kind, and I want you to know that you are, you already are, you may not see it but others do, and he'll ruin that about you.

I know that's not the way that it seems, but he'll whittle away and change the course of your dreams, there will be promises that are empty and hollow, so please, please dont follow. Dont allow him to move you away, dont make it his house in which you stay.

I know he says eighteen is plenty old enough, but please, you dont know your stuff, there's so much in life you dont yet know, I thought I knew too, please, I know you feel like yours is the love that will last, that will make it through, but honey, he's not into you.
