This post reminded me of something I learned about ancient Sparta: for a time there was a deeply misguided law that all slain soldiers had their wealth transferred to their wives. Because spartan soldiers considered it the highest honor to die in battle, many would end up dying. Their wives would marry over and over, and marry strategically, so that they would accrue massive amounts of wealth. A few generations of this, and Sparta was ruled by a few oligarchical wealthy matriarchs, who held massive swaths of property, wealth, and political influence, as well as armies of slaves.

Another fun fact - Suzanne Klatten is the daughter Herbert Quandt, step brother to Harald Quandt. Together, they inherited controlling stakes in BMW. Harald was the son from Guenther Quandt's first marriage - MAGDA GOEBBELS.
Yes, Josef Goebbels - minister of propaganda for Nazi Germany - that was his wife whom he killed with his children in the bunker with cyanide in 1945.
You can trace a lot of German billionaire's fortunes back to WW2. They really try to obfuscate the history and stay low key but it's out there if you look hard enough.
