I'm in a similar boat as a vet in college, how long/what did you serve as? Veteran preference alone is pretty significant in today's market, especially if your not considered a "minority". I'm doing the reserves while in college, which will probably help as well, did some part time jobs(security/student employment) for a couple of years, now I'm focusing more on class and hobbies.

I'm also a Jr., should be graduated by this summer if able to take needed classes. What advantage to you plan to have with an international relations degree? (I'm not too familiar with it). Other than that, be able to nail interviews like a boss, that goes a long way in today's competitive market.

Just to mention there are a number of veteran training opportunities that don't require g.i. bill money or payment on your part. I got my foot in the door with Accenture's veteran technology training program. It helps to have a bit of a computer science background but isn't absolutely necessary. It took my ~60 days to complete the program and was hired within a month.

Youre only competitive enough for the job market when you have a PHD and 15 year's experience. Otherwise, you're fucked
