As for the story of creation:

God gave people free will, but He also wants people to trust Him.

So He put that tree there and said: "Don't eat from that tree."

To make it more clear, He basically said: "Trust Me, you don't want to eat from that tree."

This is a way to give people free will.

He could also choose to make people into obedient slaves who trust and love Him, but that isn't real trust and love.

So of course, someone had to mess it up ("OMG, is that a snake?!") and now we're here.

I wonder what Eve said to Adam back in those days...

"Teehee, I was hungry... teehee..."
