Another Gillette comment.

Here's a comment that I just found on CNN business

"The 'woke' business strategy will be big theme in 2019, as that's where the money is," said Scott Galloway, founder of the business research firm Gartner L2 and a professor of marketing at New York University Stern School of Business.

Last night when I was reading up on the Egard Watches video and how the CEO made the video himself AGAINST the advice of his entire marketing team (*They told him it would destroy his company). He was correct. They were wrong. He's now made probably a few million in 'not that great looking' watches :) I really hope he fires that whole team. I personally bought a watch from him as a thank you (Speak with your wallet) and I'm looking forward to wearing a watch again. This one even winds itself back up as you walk around.

So just 2 examples.

I honestly don't think that all Millennias are dumb, so much as they don't have any concept of how reality actually works. Who goes to a Marketing meeting saying: We'll go with the slogan "If you don't like it, you don't have to buy the product" and think that's not going to offend people???

It's a level of braindead that this old fossil from the 70s doesn't quite get. When I grew up, they were picking on Oscar the Grouch. Every comedian that was any good had at least one racist character or accent in his repertoire (Think Robin Williams, Rich Little, etc.) and being 'edgy' was a winning trait. Chrissy from Threes Company was a stereotypical dumb blonde and she was loved for it. Think Kelso from That 70s show but with nicer tits :)

Now we have a pile of humorless drones that have ideas straight out of the Twilight Zone...

Just looking for discussion. If you're a Millennial, please don't feel that I'm shitting on you. That's not my intent. I'm generalizing here. But these stupid ideas that are killing companies are coming from somewhere, and it wasn't from the people who grew up watching Knight Rider. They're not from any Marketing class I ever attended...

Thoughts?
