I am relatively new to this community, but I wonder what people think about assortative mating and whether that solves a lot of the marriage risk problems faced (predominantly) by men.

For example, if two lawyers or two accountants or two teachers of similar incomes get together, and both are career minded and intend to continue working, does this mitigate the financial fallout of divorce?

I think most people in this forum would agree that MGTOW is a reaction to the disproportionate penalty that (mostly) men pay post divorce, not a statement on the merits of marriage itself.

Family courts incentivize divorce for women, which is the problem. When costs of divorce are so laughably one sided, it doesn't particularly surprise anyone that a lot of women choose what they choose. If the tables were reversed, many men would probably do the same. But what if you could choose a situation in which that were not the case? Is the risk worth it then?

Marriage does have some benefits. It just isn't worth it at all costs.

What if you can have marriage without being a beta provider? Is it worth it then?
