I'm guessing that it takes place in a historical setting and they had to shoehorn some 'strong empowered independent womyn' into the game, am I right?

You know, because playing on the German Wehrmacht team as a fat sassy black woman makes complete sense. Especially in the 1940s.

See, I remember a WWII game on PS2 that had women in it. There was this badass Russian female sniper in it. Can't remember which game, maybe COD Finest Hour? But anyway, see, that was done right. It made sense. There were female snipers fighting for the Soviet Union. In a modern warfare game or even Vietnam, it makes sense. But any time before that it was very rare indeed to find women in infantry roles during combat.

Historical accuracy is pretty important to me. Yes, before you ask, I am that guy in the movie theater. The guy who watches war movies and bitches about inaccuracies. I'm willing to overlook some small inconsistencies in favor of cinema or good gameplay, but not glaring fucking giant inaccuracies.

Ah well. I'll keep playing modded BF1942 and Battlefield 2. Battlefield 2142 is great too. If you're looking for something to scratch your WWII itch, I highly recommend Forgotten Hope or Forgotten Hope 2, both total conversion mods for BF1942 or BF2 respectively. I like them a lot and they are very historically accurate. Not too many servers running for them unfortunately but if you do a little digging you'll find some. Red Orchestra 2 is good too. Unfortunately limited to the eastern front but they do have a Pacific warfare mod in development called Rising Storm.

Why can they have an RAF pilog as a character, and have his love interest, or sister be working in an RAF operations room. It's still showing the important roles women played without having to invent shit.

That's why a stick a old school games. There are still good games coming out but they are few.
