Definitely No. The hygiene part is really, really overadvertised and the part where you lose sensitivity is really true.. You can also see it already in the color of the top. Unless someone is old enough to make the decision himself, it should NOT be performed..

I believe that the only benefit from circumcision for males is aesthetic, and mabye it is easier to keep clean as a young boy. However any uncircumcised male will know that cleaning your penis is not that difficult. So no real benefits as far as I can tell, especially because the aesthetic part seems to be no argument at all. If you really want to do it for the aestethic reason then do it when you are a grown up.

Now the negatives of circumcision: First it is simply cutting of a piece of skin from a baby or young boy for some non sensical reason. Which if you where to do it at any other body part it would not make sense, I mean you can cut of a part of the earlobe but why would you it is simply very weird to do. Second there is a decrease in sensitivity of the head of the penis, which basically means you robbing a young man of possible greater pleassure.

To sum up: If you think about it rationally then circumcision is mutilation of the genetials, however it has not the greatest lasting effect on a person so that is why it is being allowed, female circumcision seems to have a bigger inpact on their lives so I understand why people argue more fiercly that female circumcision should be forbidden by law. However in my humble opinion circumsising your child is completley idiotic and could only be rationalized by attributing it to some kind of religious reason or aesthethic one. Both of which I find completely ridiculous.
