Just something significant happening that I thought I’d share. So my mom got some land as inheritance from her father, which her brother muscled her out for a cheap rate. This property was worth 70k and she got 40k for it, which can’t buy a decent apartment where I live. Dad got riled up and he got me to drive him around looking for properties. All this time he’s talking about he’s going to buy mom a new property, that he offered to pitch in for the remainder, that he’ll let her keep it in her name. Okay. Now don’t get me wrong, I love my folks, they did the best they could but that doesn’t mean they don’t seem incredibly naive to me. Mom, AWALT, is a gold digger, and always has been, although she cooks and cleans and takes care of my pop. But she would hoard money for gold and jewellery for herself and my 2 sisters, since I was a kid there was hardly ever anything to eat around the house. I remember my sisters had to deck up in all their jewellery when walking through customs so they didn’t have to declare it when transporting the gold back to our home town. And they got to keep most of it too, as gifts in their wedding. What did I get? Jack shit. Anyway, I had no expectations so it wasn’t a problem for me but it is disturbing nonetheless. This is how inheritance is being allocated, and what follows doesn’t bode well for me or my fathers best intentions.

Anyway, what happens next is we find 2 properties, one for 100k and another for 120k. And what does my dad do? Decide to buy both and put both in her name! I tried to coax him out of it, even tried to later convince him to keep one in his name, I even started writing his name on the second property papers, but he just won’t have it. He got a new set of papers printed so I could write out my moms name. I know it’s his money, but he has this attitude to everything. Mom is like ‘oh no you don’t have to do anything’ and dad is like ‘no! insist’ like a literal white knight to the point of bone headedness. He ended up committing to both properties and paid the first deposits. Now he’s talking about letting her keep all the rent, and some portion to go to my sisters who are married whose rich husbands they’re constantly leeching off of. He doles out this life advice, says this makes women feel “secure”. Nothing I can do, I warned him. Just thought I’d rant to somebody who would understand.
