I know a few fellas that were recently married.
Prior/during the planning stages of their big days, they were in talks about opening a small investment club/money management group and making it an S-Corp or something.
At the same time, I also opened a business as a sole proprietor doing other ventures. They asked if I wanted in before but I declined.
Fast forward: I’m going in my 1+ year now at my small business and I’m already making a profit of a couple $100 bucks if it stays steady until the new year. The guys scrapped their plans, as they, coincidentally, have kids/on the way. (Still have a ways to go until I recoup all of my startup cost for my business-from out of pocket).
I was also able to obtain a DBA and register with my state/county as a small business. This hobby allowed me to learn how to actually piece together a legitimate operation.
I’m unsure when they can get back to focusing their time, energy, and finances on their venture prior to kids/marriage. Oh well.
