That wouldn't work, it would still have to be recording all the time to know what is silence, also, it is never silent especially in your pocket, the noise of fabric rubbing would be recorded. What you need is a seperate recording device. Ideally a device with sd card storage, but you'll still have to edit the silence out yourself, however edited recordings aren't good evidence.

You can get recorders that only record conversations and stop recording when there's silence. Not sure if there's an android app but I wouldn't be surprised.

I have a recording app on my phone for 1-2-1 meetings at work in case it ever gets to an argument about what was actually said.

Tends to tone down conversations when they know it'll be recorded.
