I have read many times, that in the period of the great Roman collapse, things looked much like they look today for America and much of the developed world. Women were demanding equal rights, or even HIGHER authority than men. Men were not working, in large numbers. Women were sleeping with gladiators & soldiers, & peasants were raising their children. Divorce was legalized. Traditional moral values were completely abandoned in some areas. (what we might call the hood today?) Large numbers of men began refusing to marry, and instead took advantage of "concubine women" whom bore their children with no real emotional investment, no repercussions for becoming pregnant out of wedlock, & they often gave the children away to peasants. An overburdened welfare system grew, almost like the state/fed systems we see today are growing. By 18BC, the emperor enacted law that socially devalued men whom refused to marry, & they were treated poorly at social events like theatre. A bachelor tax was imposed at some point, to encourage marriage. & men were even gathered up and publicly humiliated for not marrying. they stopped joining the military and eventually, the worlds first democracy fell.

My question is: Can you name other civilizations that have fallen, due to an abandonment of traditional values?
