Unfortunately, I can’t speak for everyone. However, I am a woman who’s currently in a very serious relationship. I wouldn’t care if he had to sell hot dogs for a living. If he at least puts effort into attempting to conceive money in any form, like selling hot dogs, it’s probably because he deeply cares. Again, can’t speak for everyone. Edit cuz I realized I came off wrong. I didn’t mean that only the man in the relationship has to put in effort. Both parties have to contribute because that’s how relationships work and bloom. I didn’t claim that men need to earn money instead of woman. My apologies if it came off that way. My boyfriend is offering to work for both of us, but I redundantly remind him that I plan to conceive a better education for myself so that I can contribute as well. I’m not sure where you base your information from, but I can safely infer the conclusion based from my close circle of friends that money doesn’t seem to be an issue (of course it’s still an issue cuz food, water, blah blah blah...u already know what I mean). If there’s such a low chance of woman who aren’t willing to “date down,” why am I ironically friends with a large group of girls who have a similar mindset than I do? I know some people will shut this argument out, but please believe there are people out there who aren’t greedy. It’s hard to find such a partner in this current society, but there has to be one somewhere, right? There’s over 7 billion people in the world, and not everyone is the same. Lastly, I’m sorry you seem hurt. I don’t have to know any story, and don’t need to, but if you were hurt in the past, may you find someone better who will treat you right and not like some sort of ATM to live off of.

I don't claim that only men need to earn, because it's unreal. The economy is so screwed right now, that for people in the middle class it is mandatory for both man and woman to work if they're in the relationship and see to build something. But there were even on reddit more and more examples of mindset that a woman after marriage left her work and left every financial marital burden on her husbands shoulders.
This "dating down" however means that a woman being a lawyer doesn't want to date a blue collar worker. Usually she wants to date at least her superior or the partner in this law firm. Next example, a woman with college degree will not date, have serious relationship or marry a guy without a degree. I didn't invent this term, but I also haven't seen or heard about any hard working woman in relationship with a homeless guy.
I myself know a story of a guy, who was a bank director and left his job to take care of his disabled son. His wife started earning more than him, started detest him, rigged their daughter against him and in the end charged him with domestic violation during the divorce. Guy was found not guilty. Witnesess also stated that guy had chemo and he was all alone under care of his elder mother (over 80 y/o that time), while daughter and wife would even shut off the radiator in his room for him to freeze recovering after chemo. You see a pattern here.
Look...I know people are different etc., but even if you and your group of female friends are as you claim you are, you're just a low percentage of...if not a promile in general female worldwide mindset. You won't change a thing, for other 4 bilion women in the World. In general men are loved for what they can provide and not for who they are. You may be an exception, but you are "just" an exception to the rule.
Knowing this all above, searching for such an exceptional woman (as you claim to be and you clame your female friends are) in a haystack of needles (a methaphore for dating market today) is ... tiresome, inefficient, with a very low odd of success and high odd of screwing your life up as a man with a divorce and family law.
With all of that above, as a rational man....you think I will look for this "unicorn" ? No, because the juice isn't worth a squeze. I will do insead something more productive or for myself (meaning as expanding my qualifications or for my entertainment).

Well...I don't know what women should do for men to even consider going back to marriage pool. That's why we are here, because odds are so stacked against men, that logically it's not worth to even try or consider long term relationships.
But if some men really want to cohabitate with a woman, beside one night stands (which also became dangerous with false rape accusations), there are some rules we learn here even with that.
If men still want to date, the first rule is to never invite on a first date to a fancy "5 star" restaurant, but for a coffee. Spliting bill is also mandatory in this position. This usually averts vast majority of gold diggers and "foodie calls".
Then there are some rules about relationship, cohabitation and "no marriage", that if some men really want to be in relationship with a woman, they learn how to defend themselves and their finances from being a "retirement plan" for a lazy woman.
