" Let me start by saying that I believe both sexes deserve equal rights.

Sexual assault is bad.

Sexual harassment is bad.

Rape is bad.

Violence is bad.

I will not argue any of these issues.

I'm also pro-choice.

I'm sure most people have heard the "Feminism is for men too," invitations. I hear that it is a fight for equality. All of these things that sound super enticing. I've heard stories about how scary the world is for women, I've read the ones about the women walking down the street with a big guy behind them and how terrified they were. I've also read the stories about the big guy walking down the street and how he feels bad when people act afraid of him like he is some kind of criminal.

Now this is where my problem comes in, people advocate that feminism is for men, but when men bring up male issues they're often swept under the rug and you'll be criticized for bringing up a male issue in a feminist environment. It seems I'm more likely to be told how privileged I am than receive support. And believe me, my life has not been privileged.

I grew up poor.

I was punished when my sister said I hit her (I didn't) and told how it is never okay to hit a woman.

I was assumed guilty when accused of "pressuring" a girl into sexting during high school and we got caught. (She initiated)

I've been taught I always have to pay for dates. This is still something many women fight for.

I've been taught that I have to go above and beyond to make her feel special, and the reverse doesn't seem to be true.

How I envy when I see some nerdy dude post something his girlfriend made for him from his favorite game.

Why aren't women taught to make men feel special?

I'm always expected to fix everything, and to do all the outdoor work because it's "mans" work and then split the in the house chores 50/50.

Women will never raise a child that they do not know is not their own.

The list could go on and on and on.

Feminism as a whole has never made me believe that they care about these things. Occasionally these things will be mentioned but inevitably seem to fall through the cracks.

I'd prefer if there were a movement that we called "Equalism" that advocated equal rights for all. As it stands now feminism just does not seem like its "for men."
