I was just blatantly used for a free meal for the first time on an OLD

Matched with her on Bumble. Asks me about my job. I respond trying to keep the conversation going. She responds and quickly suggests we go get food. I say to myself, "Sure, what the heck, I've been having back luck this time around on OLD. Might as well."

Meet her at the restaurant the next day (today). I order our food. She talks minimally and doesn't say much about herself in spite of me trying. She finishes her food in about 15 minutes. She says, "Well, It's been fun, but I better get going." I'm not even close to done with my food and a little shocked. She gets up and leaves. I drive home (~10 minutes). Look at Bumble again. She unmatched me.

This go around on OLD, I've had some super discouraging encounters. Two girls lying about having kids. Two girls standing me up. The above mentioned fun experience, and significantly less matches than I used to get in my late 20's.

Maybe 30+ is that magic age threshold that brings out the worst in everyone! 😂

Edit: Jeez, I get home from work and this sparked way more outrage than I had last night. It was the first time it had clearly happened to me so I thought I'd share. 😂

For everyone saying that I scared her off with 15 minutes of work talk, let me address that: She led the conversation. I own my own business in a niche, growing industry (that she specifically mentioned in our Bumble chat). She took the conversation initiative and asked questions and seemed to be genuinely curious about it. I did not talk at her, but with her about it. I was honestly getting the vibe that she was going to launch into a sales pitch of some kind or ask for a job by the end. She was not disengaged until she abruptly was within a few seconds of her finishing her food. And it wasn't exclusively my job we talked about. We spent probably a grand total of 2/15 of those minutes discussing her operations job with a local dentistry company (didn't get the name) at the end.

To everyone saying I did something weird or am weird: I'm confident enough in my social skills to say absolutely not. Maybe I'm not extrovert-extreme-life-of-the-party-guy, but I'm certainly not an awkward neckbeard or anything. Part of my work involves public speaking to large groups and mentoring small teams of people in more intimate settings.

To everyone saying I should have talked to her more: Yeah. As I mentioned above, it was a "what the heck" moment for me. My dire consequences were $9 and about 35 minutes I'll never get back. I'm not devastated or going to launch a "I hate women" club anytime soon.

Obviously most people have heard about stuff like this happening, as have I, but it was never so blatant as it was last night. I found it humorous and thought my fellow 30+ single peeps would too, so I shared.
