I posted previously that I am building my own camper van (in background). When it's done and I stay in nature for days, and I need something, I don't want to drive with the van to get to a shop or whatever. The plan is to have a motorbike on the back.

But then, why wait with buying one, if I can already enjoy it before van is finished?

125cc for startes

I have had motorbike license since I was 18, but never owned motorbike. For now I got myself tiny one (125cc) which doesn't even require special license. If I like driving it I can always buy bigger one later ;)

I use golden rule of finances:
Every income I ever get I split in half:
1) one half goes to investements
2) second half is my living money

That means that building this van, and buying motorbike had to be funded by second half, which I also use to buy food etc. The first half is untouchable, and I save/invests all of it.

I think it's great balance, as making more money allow you to enjoy it as well as grow your investements, so you do not feel like constantly saving and saving. At the same time I moved to my parent's place after paying shitload of money for apartament to be able to afford building the van (even though I theoretically had money from first half). I also sold TV, Xbox, speakers, old kindle. Just get rid of stuff that is not important and replace them with something that brings you joy.
