Don't. When the person brings it up just act astonished how your good intentions and kind heart could be so misunderstood. Wipe away some imaginary tear. Don't forget to imply that there musst be something seriously wrong with this person to have such a distorted perception of reality. Present all of this with an expression of deep concern and compassion, and also some hurt (see the tear thing).

You can learn all of that by paying attention how women handle men.
