also in my experience when you buy women video game related gifts if they're not hardcore gamers they don't utilize it to the full and you're pretty much end up wasting a good console or game on someone who's not even going to fully use it. her boyfriend probably knew that she's not a true gamer and it's only going through a phase and didn't want to waste a ton of money even though $200 is a lot of money
