This is just a thought based on my experience as a porn addict. It's mostly stating the obvious and I may insult your intelligence.

A person without any hobbies and goals will naturally find something to fill his "void" whenever he has leisure time.

So, without any hobbies or goals, he will most likely find the one most pleasurable to him, taking a short sighted and hedonistic approach to life. Eventually he becomes an addict to his vices.

That's probably how the consoomer culture is born. No hobbies to build a community and people have to resort to using social media for a virtual "community" to gain validation or rely on something such as watching some reality shows to "give" themselves a sense of identity. Some may go to onlyfans or pay premiums to porn streaming sites for their virtual intimacy.

Note: I am aware that some addicts who use a certain substance or do a certain activity as a coping mechanism.
