I was out on my bike this afternoon in country riding a loop trying for a PB. Passed a m/f couple hiking a trail thought nothing about it until I crossed their paths again. Decided to stop because they looked lost. I put them straight, the guy was clueless and she was map reading but couldn't fix her position on the map. I advised them not to take one possible route because it's boggy even in dry weather and they were wearing dry weather boots. Sure enough when I came round again they'd taken the shorter route. Shorter in distance ( as I'd pointed out) but longer in time negotiating the obstacle. I'm sure she made the decision.
