Learn to code, get on github, get on a few projects and learn to integrate with other people's ideas (programming is dictation of logic), and have code examples.

You can be an independent contractor and sell yourself to companies (in many environments, they "sub out" work to contracting companies, who earn like $20-50 / hr on top of your rate. You can pocket that for yourself).

Probably won't get hired just off a github account as an independent contractor, but you could work a few years under another or direct for a company. There are also several websites out there where you can bid on "odd jobs" like "we need this feature on our webpage and are willing to pay $2000 for you to code it." An active FOSS profile is enough to get picked for these (you apply and submit a rate and experience, company chooses amongst those that applied) if you'd rather stay independent the whole way.

If you're good, you can start making stupid money in a couple years. The more your portfolio grows, the more you can charge, especially if you're taking short-term contracts rather than long-term, you can rise in rate quickly.

That's my advice, at least. It's not for everyone. But it may be for you!

There's no such thing as low risk business.

The problem is some people can't identify the risk in certain businesses then they assume it's a safer option, then consider it low risk.
