I think freedom starts with realizing you don’t have to prove anything to anyone.

A lot of people buy shit they don’t really need to keep up appearances with their friends, peers, social circle, and other people. There are men like this, e.g. simps who want to display wealth and/or high social status to attract women. But especially when in a relationship, it’s a phenomenon that is typically driven by women, where they want to appear as the most well off in their female social circle.

As a MGTOW you are in a position where this doesn’t need to concern you.

Still, there is nothing wrong with spending money on yourself, your hobbies or whatever, as long as you can afford it, it allows you to stay debt free, and you are doing it strictly for yourself.

After I graduate from college and start with a decent managerial position, I definitely want to become a minimalist (shitty car, cheap clothes, planned out meals) so I can start investing the vast majority of my income. Would 75% be a bit extreme?

Minimalism is incredibly powerful.

And materialism basically builds baggage and a mess monster.

I have decided to go mobile and work everything from the bottom up.

ie focus on fundamentals, and have things like gardening tools onboard, and stuff to do my hobbies and making things.

Not coming at life from Vanities down, but from practical stuff up.

I like living outside.... couldnt care less about a house or apartment in a city, be it empty or full, its still just a box in an Asshole Capital....

I like minimalism for it simplifies my life and gives my mind the opportunity to focus on ideas and writing and not be distracted with so much material things that I do not have time to think about other things.

It's about cleaness and discipline. If your things are breaking apart and you're doing nothing about it , it's not minimalist , but lazy. Create a stable but simple environment for yourself.

i literally worked from a cabin in the woods for half a year ....best thing ever. I babysat a puppy for a friend, and hiked everyday to clear my mind and get some fresh air.

Hello another Matt D’Avella fan! ;) The Minimalists nicely described what’s its all about: its about spending on things that brings you joy. No need for fake cactuses on the window.

I had a bad spending habits but did not go into debts. I was just making awesome money and was buying crap I don’t need. Not anymore. I am more aware when spending so if I know it’s for me or improving my life sure. If its brand new iPhone when old one is still fine? Nah, who am I trying to impress?

But I have a piss easy job that pays a lot, so it’s a bit easier for me to spend. If I had a crappy 9/5 I would try and minimize it as much as I could
