This article nails it, and offers some of the reasons why I'm not an MRA.

Feminists pollute r/mensrights like there's no tomorrow. Fronting like they're MRA's with their concern trolling, downvoting, and backhanded attacks. With MGTOW, there's nothing for them to infiltrate.

I wouldn't say that being an MRA and being an MGTOW are mutually exclusive. You can support mainstream activism for men whilst also going your own way. In my view, the former is more political, whereas the latter is more related to one's own lifestyle choices. I do think there's a link between the 2 though. That being, they both stem from the same social criticisms of how men in the west are treated.
