I was 18 and met this girl on MySpace. She lived 30km from me.

She was what I thought to be a sweetheart. She was 17 or 18.

When we broke up, she made up a bunch of lies about me and our relationship, or twisted the facts around to her group of friends. So it’d be like I was a monster, and her friends can support her and have their fun at her ex, which would have been me, but it was based on lies.

When I looked at how I reacted, I did seek comfort from friends, but it was usually through beers. (Don’t drink anymore.) I didn’t feel as if talking badly about her would benefit the situation; there seemed to be no need too. So, from my perspective at the time, I didn’t understand why she needed to slander and belittle my character and personhood.

The reason we broke up? She was using Friendster and myspace to seek “higher” opportunities.

I did talk to her again when I was in my mid-20s. She had dated a guy after me for 3 years, but warned him that he had to make more money or that she’d live. She said the “nursing money” changed her. She needed more. She ended up with another guy that was slightly richer than the last, but that’s about it, IMO. I think she is single now, and massively overweight.

I suppose I had absolutely no idea about who she really was. Was who she was the person who was with me? Or the person that was with her friends? Because the things she says are inconsistent with both. But the things that I say to her and say to my friends are consistent. I guess women are just inconsistent. That’s part of their chaos that makes “sense” to their feelings.
