It all depends on how deep her pockets are. Since no charges were filed and no real damage done (other than your mental state) it would be hard to prove any tort against her. Still if she's wealthy then it may just payoff to become enough of a nuisance to warrant a settlement. Again, it'll be hard to prove damages.

Unfortunately not bro. It's messed up but proving liable slander in this scenario isn't possible. No one knows what happened between you two in private. So while the police used common sense and dropped the investigation, you can't technically prove slander because you can't definitively prove a negative.

The only way would be for her to admit to it, and I wouldn't advise you to contact her again.

It is very easy to sue her.. but really hard to win anything from that other then to drag her in front of court. It will also cost you money and you would not have that refunded most likely.

My advice is.. Move on with your life.. focus on positive things in your life and don't live in the past.. help others if you want things changed for better.. educate young telling them about your experience.. If just one kid avoids accusation because of you then you win.

Way too late.

If it is in anyway hampering your social or professional life, just leave. I am in the exact same situation, and I refuse to live my life with that stain to my reputation. The weight that was lifted from my shoulders was incredible. You don't realize how much something like that grinds you down until you step away from it.

I should add that the woman had to leave town a long time ago because she got called on her bullshit. However, I found that people were still hostile to me anyway simply because they could be, and some people would use it against me in any disagreements or disputes that I had (and I have a fair amount because I don't take shit from people).

If you really want to do your part for justice now, make sure that other men do not end up in this situation and that they know what to do when it happens to them or their friends. The hardest part for me was finding out that a lot of this happened behind my back with not a single family member, friend or fucking stranger letting me know what was happening until it was too late. People need to realize how serious and damaging false accusations are. They won't want to hear it, but it is something that absolutely needs to change before we devolve into some Mad Max dystopia of hysteria.
