Let me preface the main point of the post with the fact that I've recently started looking into stoicism as a way of life. Mastering yourself, gaining control of your emotional state, choosing how you react to different stimuli instead of allowing them to elicit a spontaneous, uncontrollable reaction, it all sounds extremely appealing, and I've been doing my best to percieve my life from this perspective, and even look at my past and see ways in which this point of view would have beneffited me greatly.

Gaining this perspective, and continuously trying to apply the mindset of "The situation didn't result in this response, but instead you allowed yourself to respond to the situation in this manner" makes me see how ridiculous humans in general (me included) can be in their actions.

Case in point, invading other subs. Regardless of whether you're a MGTOW, Red Pill, Feminist, Femcel, (add any other sub cathegory in reddit), does it not strike you as ridiculous to invade another sub to do something that is not at all constructive, nor conducive to a better way of life for yourself?

I understand schadenfreude and all, but doing thigns such as lurking in a sub under false pretenses, creating fake posts in order to try to 'taint' the image of the sub, concern trolling or straight up trolling is, ultimately, a waste of time and effort.

Now don't misunderstand me, I'm not saying that you shouldn't frequent other subs, if you derive entertainment from what is within the sub, whether you agree or disagree with it, I'm just saying that some reasons are much more ridiculous than others. If you're trying to understand how XYZ thought processes/doctrine/dogma/whatever works, be it because you're thinking of adhering to said thought, because you're trying to reach your own individual line of thought, or because you oppose this and are getting material to allow you to properly 'discuss' or 'debate' against said topic and/or it's members, it's perfectly reasonable, and you might end up learning something useful that you didn't previously know, be it a case of "example of what you should do", or an "example of what you shouldn't do".

But putting in the time to 'troll', as it were, sounds very stupid to me. Why not focus on something different? Why not focus on furthering yourself and your skillset? Why not try to find new interests?

And, as before, I believe in this as an universal value, regardless of whether I agree or disagree with the perspective/view of the person doing the trolling. It's ultimately useless.
