i have a theory about "fashion" and "modern art" its basically what "power walking" is to sports as to what these are to "art"

basically you get millions of people to pay for a degree in this field, most of them have little to no imagination/skill/talent and want to be recognized so they basically circle jerk eachother about how great their 5 color paint splatter on a canvas is and then convince some dumbass with more money than sense to buy it for 100k+

that is modern art, that is modern fashion in my opinion, or at the very least why it is that way.

for context similarly speed/power walking is an olympic event that exists for those too untalented to compete in actual running sports so they invented their own so they could "excel"

Those who can't do... do art. Oddly enough, it's the one industry I can think of where the value of your work increases drastically after your death. All the greatest artists (painting at least) were universally panned while they were alive.

That’s a broad statement. The art done for production on movies and games is very purposeful and requires years to develop the skills to do it.

Modern art, on the other hand, requires that you’re so far up your own ass that you think your lazy bullshit has value.

So true. I have a daughter that made beautiful art in high school all the time. She went to college, got an art degree, and now she rarely makes any art any more and when she does it seems low effort. Thank God she has some technical skills in other areas.
