What even Indians I've met don't seem to understand about dowry is that it's a completely legitimate institution in their circumstances: traditional Indian women marry men with the expectation that they will be comfortable housewives, and the husband will take care of fighting with the cruelty of society and drag back food for her and her spawn back at home, watching some bitchy Indian TV sitcom.

Women are literally a burden to men. Feminists would like to twist this and scream patriarchy but actually, women prefer that men go fuck themselves with society's long iron rod while they get to leech off of men's efforts and spend time growing fat at home.

Given this, it's completely valid for a father to offer dowry to a young man to take his daughter, a fucking burden, away from him. After all, the poor young man is going to be burdened with the fat bitch the rest of his life!

The only difference in Western societies is that there is a higher proportion of women who prefer working to being housewives. However, even in the West, surveys reveal that working women often resent that their husband doesn't earn enough so that she gets to stay at home

In india, if you get engaged and then break it off, is that a crime?

I have seen stories that lead me to belive it is. Please explain.

Please explain how the dowry system works and how a woman can have her husband and his family arrested for dowry abuse.

This is what I understand.

Calling off engagement is not a crime unless there was sex involved in the pretext of marriage - this aspect is a gray area, courts now don't necessarily agree with. In the past sex in the pretext of marriage was subsequently labelled as rape by women.

Dowry is illegal. It happens in 99% of marriages though. When shit hits fan, woman can file a case against husband and his entire family and rape them in courts. Dowry harrassment is a form of domestic violence that is unique to India. It's just another weapon that Indian women possess to destroy men.

Dowry is a serious problem, but that's completely hijacked by feminist cunts to destroy men.
