For you younger guys, if you think Hepatitis or HIV is bad, get HPV and it can turn into Cancer, a few years to decades from when you contracted it.

Instead of getting emotinally charged you should review the medical numbers put out by doctors, and actually research the way the HSV Virus presents itself and works.
HSV-1, aka Oral Herpes is at 50 percent in the population, and that's more or less internationally in the Western hemisphere. So it's a 50/50 chance to contract it. There's also no surefire way of 'avoiding' it, simply because it lays dormant in alot of these people. You can contract HSV-1 without symptoms, never know about it, and you can contract it from the most mundane shit. There's no 'blame' to go around when it comes to HSV-1 unless you actually already know you have HSV-1.
HSV-2, aka Genital Herpes struts numbers around 20 percent (up and down by 5 percent). Likewise, contracting it is relatively easy and little protection is available for it, except abstinence from people with Genital Herpes. Like HSV-1, it can lay dormant and not show any signs for years, so there's no way of telling unless you rigorously scan every sexual partner you have for all types of illnesses.
Now, taking both Oral and Genital Herpes into account, the chance that you will remain 'infection' free for your entire life are pretty fucked, especially if you're sexually active. Anyone could be infecting anyone given that the Virus doesn't show itself right out of the door upon contraction.
As for HPV. Like many Virus', alot of them rest dormant with us since early childhood, and we come in contact with them relatively regularly in our daily lifes. If you want to remain 'healthy', obsessing over these virus' is nonsensical and is only going to make you neurotic. A better Idea is to simply make sure your Immune System is working, supporting it through exercise, vaccines and diet, and most importantly avoiding the really 'risky' illnesses such as HIV/Aids, / Any other Immune System compromising bs.

HPV actually goes away. Something like 80% of sexually active people under 30 will get it at some point. There are many strains, only a few are cancer causing.
There is an immunization shot available for women. It should be required by law.
People saying hpv is worse than herpes are idiots. HPV is probably the least problematic of the major std/sti. Men usually have no symptoms.
