I try not to be petty most of the time .. but I still get pissed when I think about my first ex who was a cheating daddies girl who believed she was a princess and trying so so hard to prove to her dad I was a good dude while her entire family encouraged her that she could do better than me .

3 years later and I make as much as her dad did and that whole " I made a mistake " conversation we had over dinner a year and a half after breaking up was priceless . The look in her eyes when I, the man who wrote her poems after classes and did every stupid big romantic gesture I could to show her how special she was , said I didn't think I would ever marry was priceless.

I'm lucky we broke up when we did because according to my goals and life plan we'd have a house and be married by now. I live comfortably alone , in an apartment , and invest and spend my money on what I want and knowing her and the relationship we had I would be one of those losers posting on Reddit playing videogames in the closet and asking the wife for permission to do it.

This reminds me of a memory from years past. The almost standard story - had a slight crush on a girl in high school. Even asked her out, but was denied because I was a "nerd" back then.

Fast forward four years later. Me and a bud dropped my to see her. I could definitely see the look of interest in her eyes. But I was no longer interested.

I was still a nerd. I was also a ex-Marine just out of my enlistment and in the best shape of my life. In HS she probably thought I was not worthy of her. Four years later I KNEW she was not worthy of me!
