I read a lot here about hypergamy and monkey branching and all of that. The general consensus seems to be that, well, AWALT, and it’s just going to happen.

There may be some biological truth to this, but that’s not the whole story. Hypergamous desires may be in all women, but women CHOOSE to act that way.

Look at the male sex drive. We’re all basically programmed to fuck anything that moves. No man has likely had sex with every woman he’s wanted to. We may get tired of sex with the same woman, but we don’t tire of sex. Left to our own devices, we’d likely fuck 4-7 women a week. But many of us choose to settle down and be faithful to one woman. That’s a choice that goes against our nature. Our nature tells us to plant our seed wherever we can. Any time we choose not to in order to be faithful, we are denying our nature. We can do that. So can women.

Just writing women off as having defective programming lets them off the hook too easy. They KNOW right from wrong. They choose to cheat with higher status men. Regardless of whether you believe the whole “alpha fucks, beta bucks” thing, do not delude yourself into believing women can’t choose to stay loyal. They can. Just as we can make the same choice.

Let’s not let women off the hook because of biology. We are humans. Not animals. We have the capacity for rational thought and to behave contrary to our instincts. So instead of faulting women for their instincts, fault them for giving in to them.
