Ah, oneitis. To be able to love a woman again with all your heart and mind! ...actually, that's pretty terrible, looking back at it, at the time when I was a young, immature, raging antisocial teen lad. I'm glad my oneitis refused my silly promises of infatuated love that would completely destroyed me as a person if they wen through. How bad it was, you ask? Well, ten years after the last time I've saw her, I take the bus back from work to home and I see her sitting in the same bus... and damn something was still there because I felt it. From the gut. It was intense and terrible.

She wasn't even a top girl in appearance, no... at best, I realize now, from the image I still have of her in my mind, a 6/10. Probably way lower today, since she's post-Wall age. My brain was literally trying to get me in trouble, which is a bummer because I wanted to grab it and say, "dude, stop whatever you're doing to us right now, you fucking imbecile, can't you see this takes us nowhere?". Thankfully it was a short bus trip and she didn't notice me, or pretended very well she didn't, and I was spared of having to actually talk to her.

It eventually passed and ended, so much that, while I'm remembering this stuff right now, I just feel stupid, instead of desperate like I did in the past. I'm pretty sure I'd able to hold a conversation with this girl just fine and not be tempted at all to make a move. It's over, and now I'm conscious about what devious tricks were being played by my mind.

So, my advice would be, try to be aware and understand what tricks your mind (and years on societal indoctrination) is trying to play on you. It's the first step towards overcoming it. I wish I'd knew that when I was 16, but there was no one to tell me that back then.
