Look, if you take a break/breakup/divorce/separate from a woman, for the sake of your own dignity, she should not have any place in your life afterwards. Cause she is trying to keep you as a branch to swing to. On some emotional level, they will still perceive you as an option. They(most likely) may not act on it. But, in their own mind, they still like having that option. Why give them anything to feed their ego?

I'm sorry, when I found out my wife was pregnant, and I was 99.999% sure I was the only one she was with, I still got a paternity test.
