They should have stuck with the comic story. In the comics, Thanos wipes out half the population of the universe to impress Lady Death which makes more sense than trying to bring balance.

I must agree. Until worn out cheese Larson, the Marvel villains were always IMO very well developed. Even to a level where their actions made some sense. Thanos? Indeed a pink bully who wants half of the universe's population dead... Absolutely no explanation whatsoever for why? Perhaps in endgame but I'm not going to watch that. Quit the MCU with Larson's arrival. She made it perfectly clear: I am a man in my forties, so this isn't for me.
