We're in the late stages of the Western Rome collapse.

All historians generally agree that Western Rome fell apart from the inside before it fell to successive wars with neighboring tribes.

The key indicators are always a corrupt ruling class not centrally controlled but rather individually guided through a hopelessly corrupt, self-serving set of laws. Politicians are without consequence as they write social policies that affect all of us. Bread and circus are rampant and the binding power of the empire is fading fast.

In short, Western Rome was dead before any of the Germanic and French tribes showed up because the money and military prowess of the empire was squandered by self-serving politicians and a public who was indirectly involved in the theft. Sound familiar? It ought to.
