This famous painting gives me pause. Most people think of paranoia or terror when looking at this. I imagine this dude just experienced something at the end of the dock on his own and found it transcendental. A sunset on a lake or river. The birds singing. The light playing off the water and the sounds of that water echoing off the shore and dock. Then he turns around to head home with hope in his heart. The sound of his feet gradually meet the beat of a couple that passes his. His pitter patter is out numbered. And he hears something that disturbs him enough to recreate the moment. A conversation he overheard. A beginning and end to the whole convo. He repeated the nightmare in duplicate in several mediums. He spent a lot of time to recreate this moment. One brush stroke after another. What do you guys think?
