THOughT experiment

Step 1: I hand you a phone number and you can call me once in the next 30 Years of your life. I will be there in five minutes and give you 24000 Dollars/Euros. You have to spend it all in 24 hours, but you are not allowed to buy things you can keep like a car or clothing. You are not allowed to pay debt or give it to another person who gives it back to you after the 24 hours. No Stock exchange. You are not allowed to give it to charity. You can spend your own money (not the 24k) as you want to, I don’t care, but if there is only one cent left of the 24k, you must pay me 500 $/€ and if you never call me you have to pay me 100 $/€.

Question 1: Without thinking too much about it, would you take the number?

Question 2: How would you spend the money? Is it easy to spend like 1k every hour?

Step 2: Now let’s change this for a bit. Now you are allowed to give it to charity, so you could buy a pizza and just give the rest of the money to a homeless person.

Question 3: Is it your goal to spend most of the money, before you give the rest to charity?

Question 4: How much would you stress yourself to spend more and more of this money?

Question 5: If you are a man and thought about expensive champagne bottles in a club or saving the phone number (aka the money) for an emergency or you are struggling to spend 24k in one day – Do you think, that “a lot” of woman would struggle thinking about this? There is just one word a woman needs to spend 24k in 24 hours. Right? (And that is often not even enough!) Do you know this word?
