As some of you know, I occasionally post stories from my workplace which may bear some relevance to GYOW, and I work in a small, but extremely busy store in order to keep me grounded, having profited from previous jobs, learning skills, investments in cryptocurrency before it exploded etc. I keep this job because it keeps me out of trouble, and the life I have led does attract people who still hold grudges against my youthful, arsehole self.

Anyway, today I served a regular customer. We share common ground because we both play guitar.

He's buying beer, and tells me he's been invited to a party 20 miles away, but it would cost a small fortune to get there and back. Plus, the guy had just finished a 10 hour shift, leaving him a small window to get himself organised.

His missus, he tells me, clearly wants to go, and talks about driving to the nearest park and ride and getting the train, then getting the train back to the park and ride.

He then told me he asked her "when we get back to the park and ride, who the fuck is going to drive us home, ya daft cow?" I buckled with laughter.

Then he remarked "Pretty sure you know how women come up with stupid ideas, mate. They need to learn to keep that shit to themselves."

I responded "mate, after my last relationship, that's one of the reasons why I'm staying single!". He laughed.

And everybody clapped. /s

It's an interesting place to work.
