There was a post on HumansBeingBros yesterday where Ellen DeGeneres was talking about how you can be friends with people with different opinions and values from yours. As a response to having been seen at some ball-game with Bush Jr.
Boy was the comment section mad. Some serious woosh going on on account of Bush being a terrible person, or something. Plus a little hint of class-based hatered, of course.
Made me realize that for all its posturing, reddit is still the internet. And the internet makes people shitty, no exceptions.
Slightly off-topic maybe but this sub is at least partially sane, if a little crass, so you know. Sharing the «love».

I don't have and never had any problem with people with diffrent oppinions on a personal level, as long as their manners are alright. Actually I find it quite interesting. Sadly they do not think the same way (at east the ones I met) and ended up stabbing me in the back one day. Learned my lesson. Be VERY careful with people with different oppinions. Only exeption: my Dad.

Yep I don’t like George Bush but I would love to have a couple of beers with him

Yes, jews should have been friends with Hitler, despite their differing "values".
GWB was an evil fuck in office. It's not his "opinions" that are in question, it is his actions.

I can understand having different opinions but Bush jr lead a country into an illegal war killing many american and iraqi soldiers, iraqi civilians, creating a power vacuum for terrorists to grow while wasting US taxes on over priced military equipment.
EDIT: being down voted but no ones given a counter argument because they know I'm right.

Illegal? Seventeen UN resolutions and most of Congress authorized military action. Remember "I voted for the war before I voted against it."? I guess you didn't have a problem with the Sabot training grounds and Sadaam Hussein funding terrorism. Okay.
Deaths of Iraqi soldiers/civilians... have you ever heard of a bloodless war? Unless civilians were killed intentionally at the strategic level - and they weren't - untwist your panties.
Creating a power vacuum that allows terrorists to grow? No, that's Iran trying to exert it's influence. Did you miss that?
Wasting US taxes? Well that one I can't argue too much, lol.

Screw the UN, as a sovereign nation the US can make war as it sees fit. Congress voted for war ergo it's legal. Not a war I would have chosen but only a weaksauce leftist whines and calls it illegal.

Illegal? Seventeen UN resolutions
On September 2014 the united nations security general Kofi Annan declared "I have indicated it was not in conformity with the UN charter. From our point of view and the UN Charter point of view, it (the war) was illegal". Remember the non existent WMD's, same one Iran is supposedly making.
and most of Congress authorized military action.
A country can't justify their own wars being legal.
Remember "I voted for the war before I voted against it."? I guess you didn't have a problem with the Sabot training grounds and Sadaam Hussein funding terrorism. Okay.
I wasn't old enough to have an opinion when it happened but I'm of the opinion you shouldn't attack a nation if they didn't attack first especially after what US intervention did to Afghanistan and south america. And if we're talking about terrorism the US armed and funded the Taliban to fight the soviets and the US supports the gulf states who are the biggest supporters of terrorism.
People killed over an illegal and unnecessary war and Iraq is doing worse than it did under Saddam Hussein, after he was toppled radical extremists started growing because of the power vacuum and the economy was set back. There are currently protests in Iraq over the economy and infrastructure.
Iran has been funding pro government groups and minorities like christians in the middle east, they support the PMU who helped fight off ISIS because it's in their interests to have stable regional governments. the vast majority of terrorists are Sunni and backed by Saudi Arabia who are Sunni, while Iran is Shia, they have been backing anti terror groups.
There's a lot of corruption going on here, Bush probably had some level of investment in the military industrial complex and justifying wasting lots of tax money on war means he can make more money.

True r/politics is the craziest board ever. It doesn't matter what you say unless it's negative towards trump you will get downvoted lol. I try to stay away, but I enjoy hearing alternative opinions. I try to stay out of my echo chamber.

Hate to say it, but this could apply to you guys going on TwoXChromosomes, Feminism, BluePill, relationships, deadbeadrooms, etc. I'm fine if you guys talk about women and such and despite the really dull, low effort memes I've grown to accept those too.(They tend to come as more things get popular) However, lurking in those places I mentioned above is only fueling your anger and discontent. Move on from those places and go your own way.

I don’t mind the lurkers, worse they can do is post comments and downvote, plus a lot of them wind up joining so that’s cool.

Honestly I browse, for example, the Donald sometimes but I usually just laugh at posts I think are ridiculous.
What's the point of going to a community of trump supporters in the thousands and arguing with them about trump like I'm gonna change there mind by just spewing garbage in a comment?
People take the internet too serious most of the time.
