Its not untrue. But its not a standard rule or anything.

I'm a white guy and I was a kid once. I'm also single and have been in relationships and have done a lot of dating. Just my background here...

1st off and most importantly no it isn't a rule. All people are valued one what they bring to the table. Whether it be in a group dynamic or one on one. Also anyone is capable of unconditional love and to be unconditionally loved. That's just a fact.

HOWEVER there is some solid truth in this statement. A man will be quickly sized up based on his social status. Social status is the big thing women want and look for in a guy. "What does he do?" is just... HUGE with women. Either they get asked it or they say what their new guy does in the first sentence or 2. No joke. Heck in college it was "what's his major?", or "what does he want to do after school?" Always within the first few sentences discussed about this guy.

Its a good thing to ask about a woman too. Important to know. But it just doesn't come up as fast or as frequently. In fact I've noticed if I take an interest in what a woman does for a living it gets old FAST. Women are all about what they do outside of work. Men need to figure out how to make that shit happen if they want to be relevant.

Its just par for the course. If it didn't matter than why when you read up on marriages where women make more than the guy don't they work vs when a guy makes more its pretty peachy keen? Again not always the case but usually it doesn't work.

Its common sense. As a guy you better bring something to the table if you want to matter/matter more in any given situation. Suck it up and deal with it.
