No you weren't. You were raised some specific type of "Churchian" -- which is a different thing entirely.

and it took quite a bit of study to realize that all supernatural belief is just so much hocus-pocus.

That wasn't actually "studying" it was simply switching from one camp of indoctrination to another

That doesn't mean to say I don't realize the importance religion has had on building (semi) moral cultures. I'm encouraged to see new forms of morality; ones which do not require supernatural belief.

Hence the quasi-SJW'ism. It too is technically a "new form of morality" -- well it's not really "new" of course, and it's most definitely not "moral" -- but it is most certainly dogmatic and authoritarian... much like the "Churchianity" you were raised in.

And of course it also DOES have it's own little "supernatural" beliefs as well (they're not necessarily called that, but that's what they are).

Just like (so called) "science" and particularly the "atheist++" types do as well.
