Mean. Funny. But mean. I mean, the girl has really shitty parents, and a mother who clearly doesn't give a shit about her so fattens her up because of her own mental issues, so she's destroyed her child in perpetuity who will end up learning to feel rejected, unloved, and will realize one day just how much her "parenting" fucked her life over. And retreating to food for emotional succor. Career, income, relationships, social standing, etc. all get fucked. Childhood obesity can fuck you over forever.
Still funny, but I'm just going to assume that's the mother being "drawn" so I don't feel bad for this kid.

the child is a victim of shitty parenting
[–]RadicalAsceticMonk1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Some kids are just shitty eaters, no matter what parents think or do. My younger brother was an obese child, much to the dismay of our mom who tried almost EVERYTHING she could to make him not eat too much. You know what the little shit would do? He would escape away to a neighbour's house (usually an old lady who loved his company, since he was a very charismatic child) and ask for food - and of course she would give him, because he was so adorable. She took him to the nutritionist, pediatrician, the whole shabang, but my brother only managed to lose weight when he became a teenager - I guess that's when he really started to take the diets seriously and wanted to look good for the girls.

So another woman enabled him? Lol.
[–]RadicalAsceticMonk3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yeah, pretty much. But it wasn't in bad faith, mind you - she was just this old grandma who loved some company, and traditionally, old grandmas are always about giving food. Just to clarify, my brother was already fat when we moved to the neighborhood; this old lady was just unwilling undermining the family's efforts to follow the nutritionist's prescribed diet.

Ok, I can understand that.

She sounds like a classic cluster b type. Painting herself as the martyr that would do anything for her "ungrateful" child is blatant attention seeking behavior. He was obviously the scapegoat for your family's disfunction and his way of coping with the abuse was overeating which she then proceeded to nag him about relentlessly. /r/raisedbynarcissists is filled with stories like this.
[–]RadicalAsceticMonk0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
You misunderstood. My mom didn't really "nag" him into losing weight; she was worried about his health, and took him to the appropriate doctors to see what she could do about it, since she knew that he would resent being fat as a teenager (because girls would reject him) - and she was right, as my brother himself noticed, so he finally applied himself to lose weight by his own accord. My brother was just a kid that loved to eat. If it was a problem with her being a dysfuncional mother, as you say, then all of us would be fat as kids (we weren't), and he wouldn't have been able to lose weight while living with my mom (which he was).

This is covert abuse but they love to disguise it as "helping". It's really about controlling his behavior because she thinks it reflects poorly on her.

He was being singled out for abuse because he was the scapegoat. His overeating was his way of coping with it. The non-scapegoats in the family often manage to avoid the abuse by appeasing the abuser or being the golden child which is the sibling or siblings that arbitrarily receive favorable treatment from the narcissist. Everyone else gets to use the scapegoat as a punching bag and all of the family's disfunction gets projected onto them. As he got older he probably managed to build some self-esteem outside of the family and was able to lose weight because he felt better about himself. Your mother's nagging was most likely counterproductive.

Dude, my brother was 5 years old at the time. Parents are supposed to control the behavior of their 5-years old to some extent.
He was being singled out for abuse because he was the scapegoat
Nah, I don't see it. So much that our relationship with our mother is pretty much normal fare. She never "nagged" my brother into being either slim or fat - she was worried about his health, as she should be because being fat is unhealthy ("muh healthy at every size" was never a thing in our house). But she would scold us the older brothers if we tell him hurtful fat jokes, as brothers tend to do, because you know, be nice to each other OR ELSE!.
Now that I'm the fat one, my mom will occasionally tell me that I should lose weight, mostly because my grandfather had diabetes and heart problems, so I'm already at risk in those areas. It's never in a nagging way, nor I ever felt pressured into going dieting, mostly because it is a genuine maternal worry.

Notice how there's always a reason. She's not even consistent with it. She probably has issues with her own self image and is projecting it onto others. Very narc type behavior. If you take a look at the sub I mentioned you'll probably find a lot of stories that match her other behaviors as well.

Wait till they're actually old enough to deserve the criticism before making fun of them. Making fun of children is childish. You don't have to like kids but, leave em be. It's who they turn into that matters. This is some highschool girl cafeteria shit.

ooh this reminds me of when i was still on facebook. haven't used that shit for 5+ years, but i used to and my friend has a really ugly friend with a simpy boyfriend. she had this one pic with a very thick turtleneck and just totally had the pyramid thing going on with the turtleneck and her head. i photoshopped Jabba into the corner.
her boyfriend wanted to kick my ass so bad, i invited him to meet me anytime. dude was a fucking loser. #1 way to judge man's character is what he's willing to fuck. my order of respect for humans goes; mgtow men, whores, regular women, then simp men who fuck these 5 SMV and lower girls. seriously, how do they do it?
