So I've had the flu for a week now. It's knocked me out from my usual routines. When I get sick like this, I basically crawl into a hole, minimize my obligations as much as possible, and limit my engagements to self-care / work-from-home / sleep. A female in my life keeps interjecting.

It started out as nice to have someone seemingly care that I was down-and-out. But she kept checking every single day, with each check-in becoming seemingly more inpatient. "Are you feeling better?" "Feeling better yet?" Etc. Each prompt intimating that I should be better already. This female occasionally gets some utility out of me; by the fourth day of her "caring check-ins," she began stating things like "I don't know what to do, I'm trying here," like obviously frustrated that my flu hasn't cleared up in just 4 days.

She had been wanting to hang out prior to me getting sick. It occurs to me she doesn't really care about my well-being; my illness is just an impediment to the utility she derives from me. I am like a broken appliance to her that stubbornly refuses to fix itself upon demand. Anyone else notice this when they're sick and a female pretends to give a shit?
