Partly I agree. I think it comes with age for many of us. As we get older, time becomes progressively more precious. A twenty something guy will happily sit there listening to a woman spout utter bollocks on a dinner date that lasts two hours, because he 'knows' he's going to live forever and he's got nothing better to do, right?

Then your body begins telling you you're not going to be around all that much longer. You're going to die. I'm going to die. So will we all. Slower healing, dental issues, aches, pains, sore joints, weight gain, eating rubbish and not exercising make you feel awful e.t.c. When you're over 35, you tend to look at a 50% filled progress bar. Approximately. If you're lucky.

So if you're on a date listening to utter bollocks, within ten minutes you know it, ten minutes thirty seconds later you're walking out the door. An hour or less later you're doing something that enriches your life. Attention is time. If someone doesn't value their time they will let people waste it.

I'm happy to help people... but only if I'm getting something back. That reward is quite varied and could even include bettering myself by learning/improving a skill. E.g. helping someone rebuild certain performance engines? Yep I'm there. Helping someone change the oil in their Honda Accord? Fuck you, pay me hahaha!

I overheard one of my male co-workers who was asking where another co-worker was. This other co-worker happens to be a young and pretty woman. So he finds out where she is and then he goes and asks her is she needs help with anything and to just say the word. She did not need help and dismissed him coldly. That just made me groan. Pure cringe. This man is such a simp and he has no self respect. So pathetic.

Well, I respectfully disagree. I personally think this is a way to become very lonely and self-centered. I don’t think it will lead to much happiness in the long run.

I will pay no attention to most women. When I do have to interact with them, its all business, no flirty convo. Waitresses are the usually the most flirty. This is for tips. I enjoy making minimal eye contact, especially with young attractive waitresses. They are chatted up, commented on, flirted with and asked for their number by most men, so by depriving them of this unnecessary validation will confuse them. Observe how fake women are when they order food from an attractive, young waitress. Or when a table of young women place an order with an older, less attractive waitress. It's an interesting study on female nature.

Same goes for the attention seekers. Older women wearing low cut tops. I am a man but too disciplined to peak at your cleavage. Or women who dress to show off their tattoos. These are prime examples of attention that women seek, crave and are validated by. This is when I lock eyes with them and force myself NOT to boobie stare or study the usually horrendous ink they painted themselves with. I am in my own world, usually, but when forced into the herd I avoid all eye contact and imagine I am alone and they are invisible. Works for me.

This is just reactionary overstretching. Surely as with most things, the middle ground is the best way. Sure, dont be taken advantage of and dont waste your time on people who use you or just otherwise leave you feeling worse off but there is nothing wrong with having friends and paying attention to their lives and God forbid, doing them a favour. Again, if it is one sided you have to reevaluate but if it is a true friendship - you may never provide each other with anything other than a bit of a laugh.
